Designing the Logo

The second hardest thing about starting the business so far was coming up with a logo. Again this is a very important decision. Once a logo is recognizable it is very hard to change it, so I wanted it to be perfect. Design is not my forte, so I hired a graphic designer. Brian at Core-6 Creative was so helpful, I just gave him a few adjectives and he came back with five totally different great design ideas. Narrowing down the options was pretty difficult because they were all really good. There were two in particular that spoke to me so we made some small changes to them both. Finally, I chose the one that I felt represented the business the best. A couple font changes later we were done! Next, I needed to decide on a tag line, a phrase or a few words to describe the business. I came up with a few different phrases then I asked people to vote for their favorite. I didn't end up choosing the winning tagline because I thought it sounded a little generic, so I went with the second place winner. The whole process took about a month because I put so much thought into every decision, but I'm very happy with how it came out. Thanks again, Brian!

Picking the Name "Ecolissa"

By far the hardest thing about starting the business so far has been coming up with a name. This decision is very important because it is the first thing a customer will see and it cannot easily be changed once the business starts. Also, a name is necessary before you are able to do many other things such as get a business license, business bank acct, etc.

I had been thinking of names for at least the last 6 months. Sometimes I would wake up in the middle of the night and run to the computer just to find out that my great idea has already been taken. I asked everyone I knew for ideas, but nothing felt right. Finally, I gave myself a deadline. I wanted to pick a name by the end of the Memorial Day weekend. I spent hours brainstorming, listing out words and combining them in different ways. Finally, on Monday night I came up with Ecolissa. The domain name was available so the decision was made!

I hope you all like it!
